I'm sure I've written about the LTA before. Something about motor vehicle divisions throughout the world that can bring the worst out of people.
For the readers expecting to read some long rant about LTA here, I'm sorry to have to disappoint you. This morning, I accomplished something never before done in the history of motor vehicle departments around the world (and certainly the LTA). I walked into the LTA office at 8:05 to renew my driver's license and get an International Drivers License. I walked out of LTA at 8:17 with the job done.
Is this a sign of things to come? Is this a hint that the daily challenges of anyone needing to do anything with a car or transport is changing?
No...I don't think so.
What it is, however, is a tip. The LTA office at Sports City by the University of the South Pacific at 8 a.m. on a Wednesday is the place to be. No one there so no wait and because it's still early, the staff haven't yet had the opportunity to hate everyone yet. Life is good. Even if you don't drive, it's still a nice place to enjoy a quiet moment.
On today's second announcement (and in the same category as the Land Transport Authority), I present you with the Fiji Trash Blog.
As long as I've lived in the country, I've been confused at an all-too-common disregard for rubbish thrown on the streets by drivers (and people on buses). There is no reason for this so it's time to highlight the offenders.
The Fiji Trash blog is a social networking experiment in community reporting. Send in your own photograph and/or story of where you were when you caught someone littering on the streets. I know I'm not the only one, after all. Below is the first offender. I almost feel as if he should be given a medal if it were not for my desire to stuff an empty bag of BONGOS down his throat.
Visit the Fiji Trash blog and participate.
